The name, Vista Contractors & Pools, is new to the community, but the company has more than 20 years experience in the pool and contracting business. LJ works with a team of in-house associates to offer his customers a backyard oasis that brings smiles to their faces…and their wallets.

Atascocita Shores residents David and Hollie Cobb are thrilled with their new pool that features a beach entry and a weeping rock waterfall. From start to finish, it was built in three weeks. The Cobbs shopped around for a pool company for more than a year before choosing Vista Contractors & Pools.  “His pool design stood out,” said Hollie. “Of all the bids we received, his design captured everything we wanted. He really listened to us.” David appreciated the value and the personal involvement of LJ throughout the entire process. “He kept in touch every day-he was very hands on.” The Cobbs were also pleased that LJ arranged for all the additional work they needed done, including the landscaping. When customers have landscaping needs, LJ partners with Shahid Mahmood, owner of F & S Landscaping. He has known Shahid for many years and the two have a strong mutual respect for one another.

“We not only have this gorgeous pool, we have this wonderful landscaping too. Everything is more than we expected. We look out here and can’t believe this is our yard,” smiled Hollie.

“Their satisfaction is my goal,” said LJ about his customers. “Seeing them happy is rewarding in itself. Although we want to make a profit, first thing is to make them happy.”

LJ knows a lot about what makes a business succeed. He is semi retired from the Oil and Gas industry and was recently recognized in the Houston Business Journal for his leadership and foresight. His keen sense of business and hands on approach has contributed to his success in each of his ventures. Now that he has semi retired, he has seen a need in the residential market for a player to bring the knowledge and integrity to an industry that has gained a not so favorable reputation for taking advantage of homeowners. “I wanted to offer the community a reliable pool company, built on integrity, stable enough to get the job done without change orders or pressure to collect money,” he said.

From start to finish, LJ likes to educate his customers with as much information as possible and is comfortable answering all their questions and concerns. During the design process, he shares samples of many popular features and styles and recommends the best compliments to their surrounding architecture and décor. His designs are unique, not the usual “cookie cutter” pools offered by some of his competitors…. and of course, there’s the lagniappe. One of his customers decided that she wanted a little larger pool after seeing the layout in her backyard. LJ not only increased the diameter of the pool, at no additional charge, but also increased the size of the spa. “Once the pool size was increased, it seemed to swallow the spa. I doubled the size which increased the number of jets and amount of plumbing-costs that the customer didn’t see,” said LJ.

Don Zierold fires up good eats in his backyard kitchen that features a pizza oven and pergola. He appreciated LJ’s quick response to his request for a quote and liked what LJ and his designer came up with after looking at a sketch he provided. LJ matched the flagstone of his pool and went out of their way to find cost cutting ways to include expensive materials such as granite for the countertops. “It is better than what we hoped for,” said Don.

LJ is excited about the future of Vista Contractors & Pools. He recently made an acquisition that will compliment their total outdoor inspirations.
